The Pacific
Overview
The Pacific is a 2010 war drama miniseries created by Steven Spielberg and Tom Hanks for HBO, based on the memoirs of two US Marines, Eugene Sledge (With the Old Breed) and Robert Leckie (Helmet for My Pillow), and the book Red Blood, Black Sand by Chuck Tatum. The miniseries follows the US Marines as they fight in the Pacific theater of World War II. It is a companion piece to Band of Brothers. The miniseries is a powerful, emotional, and harrowing portrayal of the experiences of soldiers in combat.
