Fantasy

Overview

In Lyra's world, your soul walks beside you. Everyone has a daemon — an animal companion that's part of who you are — and young Lyra Belacqua, played by Dafne Keen, is an orphan growing up among scholars, secrets, and powerful institutions that really don't like questions. When children start disappearing, Lyra uncovers a conspiracy that stretches way beyond her home, and her search takes her to the frozen north, where danger and wonder wait in equal measure. Ruth Wilson is deliciously menacing in support. Rich, thrilling, beautifully made — this is fantasy adventure that works for grown-ups and younger viewers alike, full of heart and big ideas. If you liked the books, you'll be pleased. If you didn't read them? Even better. Go in cold.
